BGK Ecological Credit – 95 Million PLN for Green Investments. New Application Round in October 2025

For Polish entrepreneurs planning energy modernization of their companies, a key deadline is approaching. Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) is preparing a new application round under the FENG Ecological Credit program. The competition announcement will be made on September 23, 2025, and application submission will begin on October 24, 2025, lasting until January 8, 2026 (4:00 PM).

Specific Amounts – What Can You Expect?

The planned amount allocated for co-financing in the upcoming round is 95 million PLN, with the possibility of increasing the competition allocation. This means a real chance to receive significant financial support for modernization projects.

The ecological credit offers co-financing from 15% to 80% of eligible costs, depending on the type of expenditure, company size, and investment location. In the previous round, the maximum value of eligible expenditures was equivalent to 50 million EUR per project.

Who Can Apply for Support?

The Ecological Credit is available to enterprises that: • Conduct business activity on Polish territory (confirmed by registration in the appropriate registry) • Meet the criteria for micro, small, or medium enterprises according to EC Regulation 651/2014, or belong to the small mid-caps or mid-caps category • Have creditworthiness

The program covers all of Poland, so company location does not limit application possibilities.

How Does the Ecological Credit Mechanism Work?

The key feature of the program is its financial structure. Public support constitutes an ecological premium – co-financing that refunds part of the ecological credit capital. In practice, this means:

  1. The entrepreneur receives a credit from a commercial bank to implement the investment
  2. BGK repays part of this credit in the form of an ecological premium
  3. The entrepreneur only repays the remaining part of the credit to the bank

What Can the Funds Be Used For?

The ecological credit can be used to modernize existing infrastructure (buildings, machinery, and equipment). Key condition: the modernization result must be a reduction in primary energy consumption in the modernized area by at least 30% compared to current consumption.

Co-financing may cover expenditures on:

  • Acquisition of fixed assets
    • Acquisition of construction works and materials
    • Acquisition of intangible assets and rights (patents, licenses, know-how, other intellectual property rights)
    • Studies, expertise, concepts, and technical projects performed by external advisors related to the implemented project

Minimum and Maximum Amounts

Minimum eligible expenditure amount: 2 million PLN. Maximum eligible expenditure amount (according to the previous round) is equivalent to 50 million EUR (for the upcoming round, please verify information on www.bgk.pl after the announcement). Co-financing level: from 15% to 80% (depending on expenditure type, company size, and location).

These parameters indicate that the program is directed toward serious modernization projects that will bring significant effects in terms of energy efficiency.

What’s Next? Action Timeline

September 23, 2025 – detailed review of the competition announcement October 2025 – submit application in the first days of the round January 2026 – last deadline for application submission

Key Requirement: 30% Energy Savings

The most important technical requirement is achieving a reduction in primary energy consumption by at least 30% in the modernized area. Projects that do not meet this criterion will not receive support.

Strategic Perspective

The FENG Ecological Credit is a program with clear criteria and a proven operating mechanism. The allocation of 95 million PLN (with the possibility of increase) with a minimum project amount of 2 million PLN means that funds will be sufficient for several dozen projects.

For enterprises planning energy modernization, this may be the last such favorable opportunity to receive significant public support. Growing environmental requirements and energy prices make such investments not a luxury, but a business necessity.
